  11.   Thank you for trying S.S. BattleShip for Windows, the classic game of 
  12. Battleship, with a twist!  S.S. BattleShip is distributed as ShareWare so
  13. you can try-it-before-you-buy-it, and save money too!  S.S. BattleShip also
  14. takes advantage of the Windows user interface, and provides VGA high
  15. resolution graphics.  The twist?  S.S. BattleShip adds another level of
  16. strategy to the game with these special game features:

  18.   Mines! ---------------> With mines, you can get a head start on your
  19.                           opponent by exposing part of their navy without
  20.                           firing a shot.  You can also help guard your
  21.                           ships from enemy attack.
  22.   Islands! * -----------> The virtually unlimited combination of screen
  23.                           layouts make each game different!
  24.   Submerge
  25.   Submarine! *  --------> Just when the enemy starts aiming at your sub,
  26.                           give the order to dive!  Submerge your submarine
  27.                           to a depth even the computer can't hit!
  28.   Move Spy Ship! * -----> Secretly move your spy ship to a new location
  29.                           after the game has already started!  But watch
  30.                           out for those enemy mines!
  31.   Minesweeping! * ------> Use your minesweeper to locate and destroy enemy
  32.                           mines!

  34.   Hall of Fame! * ------> Make your mark in the International Admirals Hall

  47.    Microsoft Windows 3.x.
  48.    A mouse or compatible pointing device.
  49.    A monitor and video board supporting VGA graphics.

  52. Installation Instructions.

  55.   To install from a floppy diskette:
  56.     1. Insert disk in drive A.
  57.     2. In Program Manager, or File Manager, choose run from the File menu.
  58.     3. Type a:setup and press ENTER.
  59.   To install from hard drive:
  60.     1. Unpack archived file to a work sub-directory on your hard drive.
  61.     2. In Program Manager, or File Manager, choose run from the File menu.
  62.     3. Type C:\WORK\setup and press ENTER, where C is your hard drive and
  63.        WORK is the work directory where you unpacked the archived file.

  65. Complete game instructions are included in the Windows help file and can be
  66. accessed with the Help menu option from within the game.

  88.   1. Files with the .LZS extension are in compressed format and must be
  89. installed with the SETUP.EXE program.
  90.   2. The SOUND.DRV sound driver is not installed by SETUP.EXE.  If you are 
  91. running Windows 3.0 and there is no sound in the game, make a backup copy 
  92. of your current SOUND.DRV driver (located in the \windows\system sub-
  93. directory), and replace it with this file.  Do NOT use this file with 
  94. Windows 3.1.

  112. Registration

  115. S.S. BattleShip is distributed as Shareware.  This allows you to try-it-
  116. before-you-buy-it, but if you continue to use the game after the trial
  117. period of 21 days, you must register.

  119. When you register, you will receive the latest version of S.S. BattleShip
  120. on diskette.  The registered version allows you to select each of the game
  121. options (Islands, Mine Sweeping, Submerge Submarine, Move Spy Ship) in any
  122. combination, and save the configuration.  Watch for the BONUS games in this
  123. ShareWare copy to try these options!  Registered users are also eligible
  124. for entry into the International Admirals Hall of Fame!

  126. Select the Register menu option from within the game to register with the
  127. easy on-line screens.  Just fill in the required information, and press the
  128. print button.  Or use the SSBREG.TXT text file included with this package.
